Nowadays we hear a lot about the refugee crisis in Europe. But is there really a crisis or it is a myth created by the media? We invite you to join the seminar on the refugees and asylum seekers situation in Europe and find out yourself what is the situation today!
We invite you to join the seminar where you will learn about the real situation with refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. You will understand what is the procedure of applying for refugee status in Europe and why some people can easily receive it when some others wait for years in refugee camps and then being sent home. You will meet refugees who will share their stories on how they left their countries and came to the Netherlands. The seminar will help you to understand better the situation of refugees and asylum seekers.
The seminar is designed for people who work or planning to work with refugees and asylum seekers as well as for a broader audience who would like to learn more about the topic. The seminar will allow you to understand the procedure of receiving refugee status in Europe. You will learn who is eligible for refugee status and who is not. You will understand how the system of granting refugee status works in Europe.
During the seminar, you will learn about the procedure of applying for refugee status and meet people who came to the Netherlands as refugees. You will hear their personal stories.
The seminar will help you to understand better the situation with refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. Is it really that easy to come to Europe and become a refugee? What is the procedure for becoming one? Is everyone eligible for refugee status in Europe? And what are the benefits refugees are eligible for? You will find the answers to all those questions as well as develop your leadership qualities to allow you to develop successful projects in the field of working with refugees.
It is not a coincidence that the seminar will take place in the Netherlands. The Netherlands hosts a huge amount of refugees. New and new refugees are arriving in the Netherlands every day looking for a better life. Why is it so? Why the Netherlands is so popular among potential refugees? The Netherlands is obviously one of the countries offering the best conditions for the refugees. But is it easy to become a refugee in the Netherlands? You will learn about the procedure for applying for refugee status in the Netherlands during the seminar.
All participants will receive certificates from the Netherlands Education Group about the successful completion of the course.
Program
Day 1
Arrival. There are no activities planned for this day
Day 2
The refugee situation in Europe.
You will meet the lawyer who works with refugees in the Netherlands. The following topics will be discussed during the sessions:
- Refugee status in the Netherlands – who is eligible for the refugee status; what are the common mistakes that do not allow people to get the refugee status
- The situation with refugees in the Netherlands in general
- The benefits of refugees – what are the benefits that refugees are eligible for in the Netherlands
- The legal procedures of applying for refugee status – the detailed description of the legal procedures of applying for refugee status; what to do if the status was not granted
- Other topics – participants are welcome to let us know what are other topics they would like to learn and we will try to include them in the program
Day 3
Leadership in working with the refugees. If you work with refugees and want to make positive changes in this field these sessions will be extremely useful for you. You will learn how to develop your leadership skills in order to be prepared to make positive changes in the field of working with refugees and asylum seekers.
Day 4
Meeting refugees.
The participants will meet the refugees who came to the Netherlands. They will hear the stories of how they left their homes and came to the Netherlands. The participants will learn about the procedure that every person had to follow before becoming a refugee in the Netherlands. And of course, the participants will learn how the refugees are being integrated into the Netherlands.
Day 5
Closing session. The participants will be offered to discuss their projects in the field of working with refugees and asylum seekers. The participants together with the trainer will discuss how they can use the new knowledge and skills future in their professional life. The participants will be offered the free afternoon after the closing session
Day 6
Departure. There are no activities planned for this day
Upon the availability, we might have the possibility to visit the refugee camp during the course.
The participants during the course will be accommodated in the building which used to be a refugee camp. It was renovated and reconstructed but you still can get an idea of the living conditions of the refugees.
Accommodation and Meals
All the participants are provided with accommodation in Amsterdam for the whole period of the course. The type of accommodation is a shared room for 2 people. The accommodation in a single room can be arranged for an additional fee – please see the additional services section. Participants have access to the kitchen which they can use. The accommodation is well connected by public transport with all the tourist places in Amsterdam. During the program, the trainings will be conducted in the classroom which is within walking distance from the accommodation. Participants will be provided with a detailed description of the venue and information on how to reach it from the airport.
We offer comfortable accommodation where you can stay during the program and fully enjoy your time in Amsterdam!
Accommodation is provided for the dates of the program. If you arrive 1-2 days earlier or leave later – extra nights can be provided for an additional fee. Please email us in advance to ask about availability.

Visa
If you want to travel to the Netherlands you might need a visa.  Here you could determine whether you need a visa. Please tick “90 days or less” in the first question. Or just send us an email and we will advise you.

When you apply to our programs and provide mandatory pre-payment, we provide you with a visa assistance: an official visa invitation letter which is necessary for applying for a visa. Also, we will guide you on the visa process and consult you regarding the documents that you need to prepare for the successful visa application. We will be happy to look through the package of the documents that you will prepare for the visa application, analyze it and help you to prepare all the documents correctly. Usually, visa type required to attend our courses: Short-term business visa. But it would be better to make a double check at your local Consulate / VFS Center.
Step 1
Please go to your local Consulate / VFS website and make an appointment. Sometimes you can make an appointment only 1-2 months in advance. We recommend doing that as soon as possible and then proceed to Step 2.
Step 2
Please learn more about the list of all the required documents (usually, those documents are listed on the website of your local Consulate / VFS. This list also includes visa invitation letter that we send. Usually, we send a visa invitation letter within 1-3 days after receiving the required pre-payment from the applicant.
Step 3
With the full list of documents and completed visa application form, you have to go to the local Consulate/VFS on the appointment day and submit them. The fee for the visa might differ depending on the country where you apply. VFS might also apply an extra charge for their services.
We strongly recommend to check all the documents before the submission and make sure you provide the correct information to the Consulate and in that case, you most probably will receive a visa without any difficulties.
